About the Author
In 1988, Lisa Lopuck got her first glimpse of multimedia while still at UCLA pursuing her degree in design. She saw a tiny, black-and-white, interactive HyperCard stack designed by The Voyager Company and immediately knew her career path.
Her first job out of school was working at the Apple Multimedia Lab in San Francisco. She then moved on to Skywalker Ranch, working with George Lucas to design educational CD-ROMs. The rest has been interactive history — working with everyone from Kaleida to eBay, writing bestselling books, teaching, and speaking at conferences along the way.
In 1996, she co-founded Electravision, an award-winning Web design agency in San Francisco with clients such as Twentieth Century Fox, National Geographic, Microsoft, and Mall of America. Electravision’s work won awards, including Yahoo!’s Best of the Year, Site of the Day, and Best of the Web. Electravision also created the highly acclaimed online murder mystery series, Suspect, one of the Web’s first online entertainment series.
Recently, Lisa was an Associate Creative Director and Senior Producer at Disney where she managed the production of large-scale, large-budget, multilanguage Web sites for Disney’s theme parks and hotels around the world such as www.DisneyCruiseLine.com and www.HongKongDisneyland.com.
Lisa is now a design consultant helping companies shape their Web creative strategy. She is also an accomplished watercolor artist, and a signature member of the National Watercolor Society. You can see her paintings online at www.lopuck.com, and her Web portfolio at www.lopuck.com/portfolio.

Too Many for Me
By Richard Wirtz
Most of the Dummies books I know of are pitched to the ordinary joe. I bought this book assuming that it would be too, so it would help me design my own web page. Not so. This is for people who want to make a career out of designing web pages. It assumes that you will be part of a team that includes marketing people, designers (in addition to you), media specialists, "HTML slingers," programmers, and a producer to pull the team together and bring the project in on time and on budget.
Well, okay. If you are the person it's written for, I suspect that you would give it five stars, like the other reviewers. Even with the disconnect, I got so much out of parts of it that I'll give it four. I will bet, however, that if your ambitions are as modest as mine are, there are other, better books.

Not what I expected.
By Amazon Customer
This book was very informative, but not what I expected. It isn't for the regular person wanting to learn how to design their own website, it is for professionals wanting to get into the business of designing web sites.

Making the Music
By Wild Rose
Knowing all the notes doesn't make music, and knowing all the code doesn't make a web page.
This is a great book to get you going on serious web design.
In the beginning of the book Lisa Lopuck states:
"I'm not talking about building personal sites with frilly fonts and loud background patterns. I'm talking about building enterprise-level Web sites for real-world clients"
You will find step-by-step instructions for:
*Building Wire-frames
*Setting up Testing
*Dealing with Clients
*Putting together a Proposal
And just about anything else you might need for setting up a Web Design Business.
But what if you just want to put together a few sites to "Make Some Money on the Web"?
Well, this book might be for you too. For instance; customers will get frustrated and go away if the navagation doesn't work - and here you will find out how to get a few friends together to test your navagation.
There is a lot of information about the planning stages of a site. And there are a lot of good reasons why it is NOT a good idea to start with "One Page" and then watch Toppsie grow. So she shows you how to do it. Step-by-step.
Also note: This seems to be a new format for Dummies books. The pages are glossy and the images are very good.
Highly recomended for anyone who wants to build more than one or two sites.
